The larger the filter area of the HEPA filter, the lower the filter speed

The larger the filter area of the HEPA filter, the lower the filter speed

In air conditioning design, the efficiency of the last air filter should first be determined according to the actual requirements, and then the loving pre-filter should be selected.
To properly match the efficiency of the various levels of air filters, we should make good use of the particle size range with the better configuration of the primary and intermediate filters.
The choice of pre-filter should be based on the operating environment, cost of spare parts, operating energy consumption, maintenance costs, etc. Air filters with different efficiency levels have lower counting and filtration efficiency for different sizes of dust particles.
At the same time, the configuration of comfort air conditioning filters should be different from the configuration of purified air conditioning systems, and different requirements should be made for the installation and leakage prevention of high-efficiency filters.

The larger the filter area of an air filter, the lower the filtration speed and the lower the resistance of the air filter. With the particular construction of the air filter, the air filter airflow rating reflects the filtration speed.
The better the filter that excels in utilizing and configuring the initial and intermediate filters for the same cross-sectional area, the better the agreed airflow rating, and the higher the efficiency and lower the resistance at the rated airflow.
At the same time, adding a filter area is an effective means of extending the life of the air filter. Experience shows that the same structure, the same filter material filter. After determining the final resistance, the filter area is increased by 50% and the service life of the air filter is extended by 70% - 80%.

There are four main characteristics of high-efficiency filters to be assessed

Air filtration speed
Standard air filtration efficiency
Resistance of the air filter
Dust capacity of the air filter

These four performance parameters should be referred to when selecting a filter to make the appropriate selection.
