Notes on leak detection and acceptance criteria for high efficiency filters

If the HEPA filter is damaged, it should be repaired or renewed and then tested again.
If there are leaks in the frame, it should be re-installed and adjusted until there are no leaks.
When recording, the results of the scan, the status of the leak, and the treatment must be recorded.

For HEPA in HVAC systems, to maintain the aerosol concentration even when the HEPA is reached, the aerosol can be introduced directly from the negative pressure side of the system fan.
If introduced from the duct, a distance of at least 10 % should be maintained from the HEPA.
Introduce the diameter of the duct and minimize steering.
It is usually sufficient to keep the upstream aerosols at the desired concentration and to keep the concentration fluctuating within a certain range. For HEPA in laminar flow fume hoods and ultra-clean workstations, aerosols are introduced directly from the negative pressure side of the system fan.

Acceptance criteria
1. If the continuity reading exceeds 0.01%, it is considered to be leaking. After testing and repairing each HEPA filter there must be no leaks and there must be no leaks on the frame.
2. The repair area of each HEPA filter shall be no greater than 3% of the HEPA filter area.
3. The length of any repair shall not exceed 38 mm.
