Key points for laminar flow hood maintenance

Key points for laminar flow hood maintenance

(I) Regularly replace the filter
The filter is the core component of the laminar flow hood, and its performance directly affects the filtering effect of the laminar flow hood. In general, the filter replacement cycle is about 6 months to 1 year, and the specific time can be determined according to the specific situation of the laboratory and the frequency of use. For example, for laboratories with high frequency of use, the filter may need to be replaced every 6 months; while for laboratories with low frequency of use, the filter replacement cycle can be appropriately extended to 1 year. If the filter is not replaced for a long time, the filtering effect will decrease, and harmful substances such as particulate matter and bacteria in the air may enter the operating area, affecting the accuracy and reliability of the experimental results.
(II) Cleaning and disinfection
It is very important to clean and disinfect the surface of the laminar flow hood regularly to avoid the accumulation of impurities and bacteria affecting the filtering effect. When cleaning, you should pay attention to using special detergents and soft cloths, and avoid using detergents containing abrasive particles to avoid scratching the surface. Generally speaking, the surface of the laminar flow hood can be cleaned once a week, using injection water to clean the mask of the laminar flow hood, and then scrubbing it with 35% alcohol. The interior of the laminar flow hood can be cleaned and disinfected regularly according to the actual situation, generally once every 1-2 months. When cleaning and disinfecting, be sure to turn off the power of the laminar flow hood first to avoid safety accidents.
(III) Regular maintenance of equipment
Regular maintenance of laminar flow hood equipment includes checking exhaust ducts, power cords, electrical components, etc. to ensure the normal operation and safety of the equipment. When checking the exhaust duct, pay attention to whether there is blockage, leakage, etc. If there is a problem, it should be cleaned or repaired in time. When checking the power cord, pay attention to whether it is damaged, aged, etc. If there is a problem, it should be replaced in time. When checking electrical components, pay attention to whether there is looseness, damage, etc. If there is a problem, it should be tightened or replaced in time. Generally speaking, the equipment of the laminar flow hood can be inspected and maintained once a month.
(IV) Pay attention to special circumstances
In the process of using the laminar flow hood, some special circumstances need to be paid attention to. First, the operating temperature of the production workshop shall not exceed 50℃. If the temperature is too high, it may affect the performance and life of the laminar flow hood. Secondly, it is strictly forbidden to use open flames indoors, because open flames may cause fires or explosions, causing serious harm to personnel and equipment. Finally, the electrical circuit of the laminar flow hood needs to be checked regularly. If there is a fault, you can refer to the electrical schematic diagram for repair or contact the manufacturer immediately for on-site repair. Generally speaking, the electrical circuit of the laminar flow hood can be checked once a quarter.
