Installation requirements for high-efficiency filters for theatre purification

High-efficiency filters are consumable items for the decontamination of operating theatres.
They are usually replaced at regular intervals to ensure effective cleaning.
Most operating theatre decontamination areas are now equipped with a ceiling air supply of HEPA filters.
The pre-installation method of installation and confirmation completely determines whether there are any leaks in the HEPA filter.
The pre-installation does consider that a more efficient installation provides effective objective conditions and therefore the following issues must be taken into account during installation.

Requirements for the installation of high-efficiency filters for operating theatre purification

1. When transporting and storing HEPA filters, they should be set aside in the direction indicated by the manufacturer. During transport, they should be handled with care to prevent violent shocks and collisions that could cause human damage.
2. Before the installation of clean HEPA filters in the operating theatre, the dust within the air conditioning system needs to be cleaned, wiped, and decontaminated to meet the cleaning requirements. If HEPA filters are installed in technical mezzanines or ceilings, the technical mezzanine or ceiling should also be fully cleaned and wiped down.
3. Once the clean room and the purified air conditioning system have met the cleaning requirements, the purified air conditioning system must be commissioned. After more than 12 hours of continuous operation, the clean room is cleaned and wiped down again and the operating theatre purification filters are immediately installed.
4. Before installing the clean HEPA filter in the operating theatre, the packaging must be opened at the installation site for external inspection. This includes the filter paper, sealant, and frame for burrs and rust spots (metal frame).
The product is qualified and the technical performance is by the design requirements. A leak test is then carried out. The installation should be carried out immediately after the inspection and leak test.
During installation, the resistance of each filter should be reasonably adjusted according to the size of the resistance. For unidirectional flow, the difference between the rated and average resistance of each filter on the same outlet or supply surface should be less than 5 %.

5. The frame in which the HEPA filters are cleaned and installed in the operating room should be smooth. The permissible deviation in the flatness of the mounting frame of each HEPA filter should be no more than 1 mm. and the arrows on the outer frame of the filter should be kept in the same direction as the airflow. For vertical installation, the filter paper crease should be perpendicular to the floor.
6. When sealing between the high-efficiency filter and the frame, generally use gaskets, dry glue, negative pressure sealing, liquid tank sealing, double ring sealing, etc. The packing surface, filter frame surface, frame surface, and liquid tank must be wiped clean.
The thickness of the gasket should not exceed 8 mm and the compression rate is 25-30%. The joint form and material should meet the design requirements, and there should be no leakage at the frame joint.
When using double-ring seals, do not block the hole in the ring cavity when pasting the seal; both double-ring seals and negative pressure seals must keep the negative pressure pipe open.
7. At present, most of the operating room purification filters in China are installed by the gasket method, because the sponge rubber sheet is closed-hole and has good air tightness, so it is generally used as sealing material. If necessary, it is better to apply some glass glue evenly on the sealing strip.
When connecting the filter to the hydrostatic tank, the force around the high-efficiency filter should be even. After 24 hours, the glass glue dries and then the operating theatre decontamination system is run.
