HEPA Filter Life and Replacement Intervals

HEPA Filter Life and Replacement Intervals

The life expectancy of HEPA filters:
For a running cleanroom, the value of the end HEPA filter is not high, all together it may be less than the production value of the user for a few hours, but the risk and overhead of replacing the end HEPA filter will be high. However, the risk and overhead of replacing an end-of-line HEPA filter can be very high. Replacing a filter requires a shutdown of production, and only the owner can calculate the cost of the shutdown, which is certainly higher than the cost of spare parts for the filter. Replacing HEPA filters is a very careful operation. Anything in a clean room can be expensive, and damaging one part can cost more than the entire filter. Replacement of filters should be tested by professionals, and sometimes the air-conditioning system has to be debugged, but also after a period of trial operation. The cost of the inspection, commissioning, and trial run can add up to the price of the filter. Smart homeowners always want to extend the service life of high-efficiency filters as much as possible, not to save the filter a little money, they want to avoid a bunch of trouble due to filter replacement.
The most fundamental way to extend the life of a high-efficiency filter is to keep dust out of the pre-filter. Replacing the pre-filter generally requires no shutdown and no commissioning, so experienced homeowners will spend their attention and money on the pre-filter and protective intermediate filters. For 10K class and 100K class clean plant, pre-filter selection of G4, intermediate can choose F8 filter (colorimetric 95%), so that the service life of the end of the high-efficiency filter is generally up to 5 years. In foreign projects and domestic new projects, the F8 filter is the most common pre-filter for non-uniform flow cleanrooms.
On some occasions, the provisions of the service life of the high-efficiency filter are not out of consideration of the resistance, but other factors. If there is hydrofluoric acid in the plant, and the workshop air conditioning is not a full fresh air system, the glass fiber filter paper in the high-efficiency filter will be corroded by the return air, to be safe, the high-efficiency filter must be replaced periodically. In some large pharmaceutical plants, HEPA filters are replaced every year after the rainy season to prevent any possible mold contamination on the filter. Some biological laboratories and laboratories dealing with hazardous materials require new HEPA filters for reliability before embarking on a new and important project.
HEPA Filter Replacement Intervals:
Primary filters are generally replaced once every 2-3 months, and intermediate filters are replaced once every six months so that the life of high-efficiency filters can generally be more than 2 years.
However, to protect the use of high-level filters and protect the safe operation of the clean room, many smart homeowners monthly replacement primary effect, every three months to replace the intermediate and sub-high-efficiency (or the end of the wind cabinet mentioned earlier to choose a high-efficiency to do the protection of filters), so that you can ensure that high-efficiency filters for more than 5 years (or even 10 years) of service life, but also because of the replacement of new filters after the resistance is small, the air-conditioning load has been greatly reduced, and the cost of filter replacement is much less than the air conditioning. The cost of filter replacement is much less than the cost of electricity required for air-conditioning operation, frequent replacement of the front pre-filter is actually to make the air-conditioning in the low-resistance load operation, saving a lot of money on electricity.
