Drawbacks and challenges of VHP pass box
Drawbacks and challenges of VHP pass boxNo technology is perfect, and the VHP pass box faces some challenges and existing drawbacks while bringing efficient sterilization assurance to many industries. The sterilization cycle of the VHP pass box is relatively long. Under normal circumstances, it takes about 1.5 hours for a small cabin to complete the process from the beginning of sterilization to the discharge of residues to less than 1ppm, while it takes longer for a large cabin, which may be as long as about 3 hours. This longer sterilization cycle undoubtedly increases the time cost of enterprises, especially for some enterprises with heavy production tasks and high production efficiency requirements, too long sterilization waiting time will seriously affect the production schedule. To reduce the sterilization cycle, some companies choose to open the hatch door to take materials even when the hydrogen peroxide residue in the VHP pass box is still 5-10ppm, however, this practice greatly increases the risk of personnel exposure to hydrogen peroxide, posing a potential threat to the health of the operator. In the sterilization process, due to the use of a high-temperature flash to convert 30% hydrogen peroxide into hydrogen peroxide gas, will cause the transfer window temperature to rise by 5℃ -15 ℃. For some biologicals that are particularly sensitive to temperature, such temperature fluctuations can affect their activity and quality, so the VHP pass box has certain limitations when it comes to delivering such products. If the temperature is not raised to avoid rising, the high-temperature hydrogen peroxide gas is extremely easy to adheres to the stainless steel plate inside the pass box, resulting in condensation, which will not only affect the sterilization effect but also may cause damage to the equipment. Domestic VHP pass boxes generally use 30% -35% food grade (or analytical pure grade) hydrogen peroxide solution common on the market. 30% hydrogen peroxide is a dangerous chemical, with flammable and explosive characteristics, its purchase, transportation, and storage need to be in strict accordance with the provisions of the local public security department for the record, which undoubtedly increases the management costs and operational risks of enterprises. Moreover, these food grade or analytical pure grade hydrogen peroxide impurities, in the process of use will cause great damage to the life of hydrogen peroxide flash trays, frequent replacement of flash trays not only increases the cost of equipment maintenance but also affects the continuity of production. |
