Can primary air filters be cleaned? What do I need to be aware of?

The use of air filters to a certain extent to improve air quality and create a healthy living environment, the primary air filter is the first layer of the air purifier purification system, and has a very wide range of applications mainly to intercept dust, hair, dander large particles of pollutants, is the most easily dirty layer of the air purifier filter, then the primary air filter can be cleaned? Can the HEPA filter and activated carbon filter that we often use be cleaned and what do we need to pay attention to when cleaning them?

There are three types of primary air filters (folding, plate, bag), the outer frame materials are paper frame primary air filters, aluminum frame primary air filters, galvanized frame primary air filters, filter materials are non-woven, nylon mesh, activated carbon filter material, metal hole mesh, etc. In terms of material, most of the primary filters are made of various specifications of wire mesh, cleaning with water will not cause damage to the filter itself, most of the primary filters can be cleaned with water. Most of the primary filters can be cleaned directly with water.

The HEPA filter network can not be cleaned by washing, this is also for the HEPA material itself is paper-like material, and generally can not be washed, if the water-cleaning HEPA filter, may look clean on the surface a lot (at least a little white) but the direct impact is the purification efficiency, in most cases after cleaning the HEPA purification efficiency is not up but down.

Secondly, we are familiar with the role of activated carbon filters, mainly to remove volatile organic compounds formaldehyde, toluene, hydrogen sulfide, chlorobenzene, and air pollutants, but also play a deodorizing, odor removal role, if you want to wash the activated carbon filters, then first of all the water temperature must not be higher than 50 degrees, to ensure that the activated carbon will not encounter high temperature and deformation. It can also be cleaned with a neutral detergent, but not with strong acids and alkaline detergents, which can cause chemical damage.
