Aseptic clean bench operation norms and precautions

A sterile clean bench is a facility that provides a sterile clean operating environment for laboratory work to protect experiments from the outside air. Compared to sterile hoods, aseptic clean benches allow the operator to move freely, have access to any part of the operating area, and have a higher safety factor.

Precautions for aseptic clean bench

(1) The clean bench has been strictly tested before leaving the factory to ensure its normal use. But this does not mean that the clean bench manufacturer's test can replace the operator in the use of the necessary checks and debugging. Due to the different environments within the clean bench, only after proper inspection and debugging can the equipment function to its fullest extent. Aseptic clean benches are fitted with UV germicidal lamps and fluorescent lamps for illumination as standard for clean benches. Newly purchased unused clean benches are fumigated in addition to being irradiated with UV lamps. Then when the machine is in working condition, an open nutrient agar plate is placed at the corners and center of the operating area, covered after two hours, and placed in an incubator at 37 for 24 hours to calculate the number of colonies. The average number of colonies per plate needs to be less than 0.5.

(2) Before using a sterile clean bench, switch on the ultraviolet light for 30-40 minutes and check that the various openable doors and windows around the operating area are in working position. It is good to operate the center of the operation area, which is designed to be safer. Before operating, you need to have an initial understanding of the lab materials and also know the performance and safety level of the equipment you are using. Strictly enforce laboratory safety regulations. The use of specific pathogens in any sterile clean bench requires a safety assessment. If the experimental material will contaminate the surroundings, it should be avoided in models without exhaust filter plates, as operating in moving air is tantamount to dispersing poison. The purpose of a sterile clean bench is sterility and avoidance of cross-contamination, so skillful handling and clear aseptic essentials are essential.

(3) The aseptic clean bench is a relatively sophisticated electrical device, so it is very important to perform regular maintenance and upkeep on it. Firstly, keeping the room dry and clean is essential. Humid air will not only cause the manufacturing materials to rust but will also affect the proper functioning of the electrical circuits. Moist air is also conducive to the growth of bacteria and mold. A clean environment also extends the life of the filter panels. In addition, cleaning is an important part of proper equipment use, including daily cleaning and routine treatment before and after use. Clean bench filter plates and germicidal UV lamps have a calibrated service life and should be replaced regularly.
